ART INSTRUCTION
The class will focus on drawing and painting while on location in the historic village of Garessio and its local environment.
We will focus on capturing the essence of a location in sketchbooks and with portable painting art supplies which will produce 'finished' artworks and/or research for future in-studio paintings.
WHAT TO BRING
Students are asked to bring their own 'portable' art supplies (art supply shopping list available on request) to be ready to draw and paint in the studio as well as while traveling around cobblestone streets and verdant mountains.
Students are requested to bring all art materials that they will need for the duration of the session as art supplies in the area are almost non-existent. Students should bring whatever media and supports they are used to working in and/or art supplies they would like to experiment with.
WHAT IS PROVIDED
Daily instruction will be provided. Painting excursions that require driving will be arranged with the students and costs to be shared.
WHERE TO STAY
We recommend the following inn that is centrally located in the Garessio Old Town, close to the art studios.
Locanda Ponte Rosa
Address: Via Fasiani, 1, 12075 Garessio CN, Italy. Phone: +39 0174 81007
GOOD TO KNOW
Participants are responsible for their own accommodation, meals, and transportation to and from Garessio.
The Art in Residence program is being provided by Gregory Burns.
Studio space is being donated by Marchesa Montforte
All participants using the Marchesa Montforte studio will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to studio usage.

SUGGESTED ART SUPPLIES
Students are requested to bring all art materials that they will need for the duration of their session(s), as art supplies in the area are almost non-existent.
Students should bring whatever media (ie: watercolors, acrylics, brushes, pastels, pens or pencils) and supports (ie. watercolor or mixed media paper, canvas boards, sketchbook) they are used to working with.
As we will be moving about and painting on location please keep this in mind when deciding upon what size of supports to bring. As oil paint takes a long time to dry it may not be the best media to bring.
Some suggested supplies:
Paints, brushes, drawing supplies, set of oil pastels (suggest Caran'ache), large sketchbook with mixed media paper and/or canvas panels, acrylic gloss gel medium (8-16 oz), portable/sealable water container, cotton rags, and backpack for carrying art supplies.
